Anchors Aweigh

Beautiful cool passage from Oriental to Beaufort NC. Anchored in the harbor and rowed the dinghy ashore. Yummy crab cakes, shrimp and pizza at Queen Anne’s Revenge. Ready to go into the Atlantic tomorrow and head south. A brisk North wind forecasted.

Ready to Sail

All our bags are packed and we are hoping to set sail at noon tomorrow. We had a set back on Thursday with a stripped nut for the fuel injection. Bruce headed down early from Chapel Hill at 4 am this morning and has been working on that. I will ride down early tomorrow with Don. We are four. Bruce, me, Don (our friend from Chapel Hill) and Mike (our friend from Oriental). We picked this date to leave because it’s pretty easy for me to take Thanksgiving week off work and I will also take the following week off. Turns out sailing is really slow so it’s nice to be able to have two weeks. We are hoping to sail most of the way in the ocean but can use the intracoastal if needed. Likely stops are Beaufort NC, Wrightsville Beach NC, Georgetown SC, Savanah GA, Cumberland Island GA/Fernandina Beach FL, Jacksonville FL. It’s also possible we will sail 72 hours from Beaufort to Cumberland Island with no stops if the weather is favorable.
